Fort George Brewery Public House ABV: 5.1%

Brewed in honor of the bicentennial of Astoria, Oregon (Fort George’s hometown), this lager sold in 16-ounce cans is crafted with a measure of corn— harkening back to early American brewing—and both Saaz and Centennial hops, resulting in a lively, zesty beer that’ll knock any lingering lager prejudices for a loop. P.S. Fort George’s Vortex IPA and Cavatica Stout are also sound selections.

Shift Pale Lager

New Belgium Brewing ABV: 5%

New Belgium may be known for its Belgian-style ales, but the brewery has a steady hand with bottom-fermented beers such as its Czech-style Blue Paddle Pilsener- Lager and this thirst-quenching pale lager. New Zealand’s Nelson Sauvin hops give Shift a fruity, tropical profile, with notes of lychee and mango. The crisp drinker comes in cans, making it especially suited for sipping during sporting events.
